## Responsibility

Matthias Függer is responsible for this personal website and for responding to website-related inquiries. GitHub handles hosting-related data under its own privacy statement. Messages about CNRS or other institutional activities may be handled under the relevant institution’s data-protection rules.

## Cookies and tracking

The website does not set cookies or use analytics, advertising trackers, tracking pixels, or browser storage. There are no contact forms, user accounts, or embedded social-media feeds. Images and stylesheets are served with the website; fonts come from your device.

There are no optional cookies or trackers to accept, so this website does not display a cookie-consent banner. External services reached through links have their own privacy and cookie policies.

## Hosting and technical data

The website is hosted by GitHub, Inc. through GitHub Pages. Requesting a page transmits technical information, including your IP address, to the hosting infrastructure. GitHub states that visitors’ IP addresses are logged and stored for security, whether or not visitors are signed into GitHub.

I do not receive GitHub’s raw visitor logs or maintain a visitor database. GitHub manages its own processing and retention of hosting data. Its privacy statement describes the data it collects, purposes, legal bases, retention criteria, and ways to exercise your rights.

GitHub is based in the United States and describes processing in the United States and other countries. Its privacy statement explains international transfers and the safeguards it uses. Hosting data may be processed outside the European Union.

## Contact by email

Email links open your email application. Sending a message provides your email address, any name you use, the message, and any attachments. These are used to reply to your inquiry and manage the resulting correspondence. Providing this information is voluntary; without a return address, I may be unable to reply.

For ordinary website correspondence, the legal basis is the legitimate interest in answering inquiries and maintaining professional communication (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Messages are handled through the institutional email service and its authorized service providers. Relevant colleagues may receive a message where necessary to address an institutional request.

Correspondence is retained for the time needed to handle the inquiry and any ongoing exchange. Longer retention may be necessary for applicable legal, institutional recordkeeping, or research obligations. Contact me if you would like information about a particular message or its retention.

## Your rights

Under the GDPR, you may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Data portability and withdrawal of consent apply where the relevant legal conditions are met.

For website-related correspondence, contact me at the email address above. For data processed by GitHub, use the contact details in GitHub’s privacy statement. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL or the data-protection authority in your country.
